Built to last — the Coll family and the making of Grupo Disber.
What does it take to build Spain's leading gift company from the ground up — and then hand it to the next generation without losing what made it great? The answer, for the Coll family, is simple: conviction. We trace the story of Vicente Coll, the founding of Grupo Disber, and the three daughters now shaping its future.
What were Vicente Coll's beginnings?
Vicente Coll's early years were shaped by a humble childhood and a firm conviction that work, effort and perseverance were the path to building any project. From a very young age he showed a strong entrepreneurial spirit, a courageous personality and a great capacity for taking risks, always with his sights set on creating opportunities where others saw limits.
That approach to work became the DNA of Grupo Disber: a company built on a culture of hard work, closeness to its people, and a constant pursuit of quality and customer service. His vision remains to this day the foundation on which the group operates.
How was Grupo Disber born, and what is its connection to Vegamar?
Grupo Disber was founded with a very clear purpose: to bring together the finest products of Spanish gastronomy and turn them into gifts capable of representing the quality, tradition and prestige of the Spanish brand. From its origins, the company has committed to championing national produce, selecting top-tier references and bringing them to both domestic and international markets.
Years later, that same philosophy gave rise to Vegamar Bodegas. The project was born with the ambition of demonstrating the enormous winemaking potential of the Denominación de Origen Valencia, producing wines of the highest quality that reflect the personality of the region. Vegamar thus represents the group's commitment to origin, innovation and excellence, while also contributing to raising the profile of Valencian wine at home and abroad.
Today Vegamar has expanded well beyond winemaking, successfully complementing its range with its own line of premium spirits, vermouth and other gourmet products — forming an exclusive in-house range within the gift collections Grupo Disber offers each year.
Grupo Disber is today the leader in Christmas hampers and gift lots in Spain. What has been the key to that growth?
Grupo Disber's leadership is the result of a combination of product quality and strong operational capability. From the very beginning, the company has chosen to work with some of the finest Spanish producers, making quality its primary point of difference.
This is supported by a powerful logistics infrastructure, built over more than four decades, capable of handling millions of products to the highest standards of food safety, traceability and quality control. Process optimisation, technological innovation and efficient planning have made Grupo Disber a national benchmark in the sector, ensuring that every gift arrives at its best and on time. The company has reached the scale of producing and distributing one million gifts per year.
What is the current state of Grupo Disber?
Today, Grupo Disber combines the experience of its founder with the leadership of the second family generation. The company is led by his three daughters, who have each taken on strategic roles to drive the group's growth and evolution.
María Coll serves as CEO of Grupo Disber, leading overall strategy and company development. Andrea Coll is Director of Projects and Export Manager, driving international expansion and new business ventures. Ana Coll heads the Marketing department, overseeing brand positioning, communications and the development of new own-brand products.
The arrival of the second generation has kept the company's founding values fully intact, while bringing a more innovative, international and future-oriented vision to the business.
